Back on October 9 at 9PM, the Yongsan Police Station received an urgent call from a family that was worried about their missing grandma. The 87-year-old grandma had gone grocery shopping earlier in the day, but even late into the night, she hadn’t yet returned home. Furthermore, she had received kidney surgery just 20 days prior.

Two police officers Park Jin Soo and Shin Yeong Bin searched near the Noksapyeong Station for two hours. The pair finally found her hobbling in the area. After confirming her name and home phone number with her, they drove her home.

As she lives in a townhouse located on top of a steep sloping hill, when the police officers could not drive up to her residence, Park offered a piggyback ride to the grandmother. Park carried her for 40 meters (approx. 131 feet) uphill.

After returning her safely, she told officer Park, “Accept what this halmuni (grandma) gives you,” and gave the officers some candy out of gratitude.
